Financial Analyst - Business Valuation

BCC Advisers is seeking a Financial Analyst to join our Business Valuation team. Prior business valuation experience is not required. The Analyst will work closely with experienced valuation professionals throughout business valuation engagements, including financial statement analysis, company and industry research, financial modeling, valuation analysis, and preparation of written valuation reports. The role is well suited for someone who enjoys working with financial information, investigating the factors that drive a company's performance and value, and developing well-supported conclusions from complex information. As experience develops, the Analyst will take on increasing responsibility for valuation analysis, report preparation, and client communication, building the technical and professional skills needed to develop into a well-rounded business valuation professional.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Input, organize, and analyze historical financial statements and future projections; identify financial trends, value drivers, unusual or nonrecurring items, and potential normalization adjustments; and evaluate the relevance and reasonableness of underlying financial information.

  • Perform valuation analyses using appropriate income, market, and asset-based approaches, including discounted cash flow, capitalization of earnings, guideline public company, guideline transaction, and adjusted net asset value methodologies.

  • Conduct industry, economic, and company research and analysis.

  • Assist in the preparation of comprehensive written appraisal reports, including company and industry descriptions, financial analysis, valuation methodologies, supporting exhibits, and documentation of valuation conclusions.

  • Communicate with clients to gather required information and, as experience develops, participate in client meetings and other aspects of ongoing client service.

  • Organize and maintain client files and supporting documentation to ensure valuation analyses and conclusions are accurate, consistent, and well supported.

  • Develop technical expertise through hands-on engagement experience, mentoring, internal training, and structured professional development, including support for pursuing relevant professional credentials.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a related field, or expected completion prior to the position's start date, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate professionally with clients and colleagues.

  • Strong organizational skills and a high level of accountability, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to shifting work priorities.

  • Strong foundation in accounting, finance, and financial statement analysis, with the aptitude and interest to develop advanced business valuation and financial modeling skills.

  • Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, including the ability to evaluate assumptions, assess supporting evidence, identify inconsistencies, and develop well-reasoned conclusions.

  • Comfortable learning and appropriately using emerging technologies, including AI tools, to improve research, analysis, and productivity while maintaining appropriate confidentiality and professional judgment.
